Few hours ago, the year, 2018 that turned out to be one of serious trepidation for most Nigerians became history. Despite the distress experienced in the outgone year, Nigerians, known for their can do spirit look forward to the New Year, 2019 with uncommon sense of hope and confidence. Yes, an unwavering optimism rents the air. It is the beginning of a New Year, and an opportunity once again for everyone to send warm greetings to all and sundry.
And in his New Year message, the Chairman, Governing Council of College of Education, Warri, Professor Samuel Ovuete Aghalino welcomed and congratulated all Nigerians to the year, 2019, and called on renewal of commitment and rededication.
Earlier in his felicitation message, he appreciated the College's Visitor and the Smart Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for his unflinching support and commitment to the College through deployment of resources that saw to the accreditation of nearly all courses and programmes offered and run by the College, welfare of staff and students, consolidation of existing infrastructures.
He also appreciated the State Commissioner for Higher Education, Engr. Jude Sinebe, and interventionist agencies and corporate bodies. Professor Aghalino a cerebral scholar of History, congratulated the Members of the College's Governing Council on the successful completion of the Council’s scheduled activities in 2018.
Professor Aghalino who is the Vice President of Historical Society of Nigeria, HSN, expressed sincere appreciation to the College Management led by the Provost, Professor (Mrs.) Mary Edema, Staff and students for their sacrifices, commitment and contributions towards the successes and achievements recorded by the College in the past year, 2018.
On the imperative of consolidating on past achievements, and break new grounds in 2019, the Governing Council Chairman urged Council Members, Management and staff to remain steadfast and committed, and to the students of the highly rated College to take their academic studies seriously.
Professor Samuel Aghalino wished all Nigerians a Happy and Prosperous 2019.
