9th Bi-ennial Conference & Exhibition of the School OF VTE, COEWA

On Thursday, the 13th of August, 2021 was the opening ceremony of the School of Vocational and Technical Education’s 9th Bi-ennial Conference.
The theme of the Conference was *TVET and Entrepreneurship Education- A Panacea for National Security and Revamping the Economy in Covid – 19 Era* .
While giving the opening address, the Dean of the School, Dr. (Mrs.) P. A. Ifie, welcomed everyone to the gathering. She was grateful to be hosting the 9th Bi-ennial Conference, being the first to be hosted by her since she assumed office as the Dean of the School. Coincidentally, the School organised the first Conference to be hosted by the new Provost, Dr. Dickson O. Oyovwi, which was considered a privilege by the Dean and other members of the school.
She stated that the theme of the Conference is apt in view of the alarming rate of insecurity and adverse social-economic milieu in our country. She encouraged all to pay attention to the scholarly papers that will be presented to be better equipped to survive economically in the face of the new normal.
The Provost was represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr. (Mrs.) Fidelia Ighrakpata. While giving the Provost’s address, she stated that the need for Vocational/Entrepreneurship Education cannot be overemphasized, as it could go a long way to reduce unemployment, which could reduce the level of insecurity in the country, as well as other Economic challenges.
The Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Samuel Akinseide from the Department of Technology Education, Delta State University, Abraka.
The Lead paper was presented by Dr. (Mrs.) J. Oviawe, who was ably represented by Mr. James Edokpolor, from the Department of Industrial/Technology Education, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
Others present at the Conference were the College Registrar, Mrs. Christine Aluyi; Dean School of Arts & Social Sciences, Mr. Monday Etumudor; Dr. (Mrs.) Amino Anigala, the Director of Uniben Affiliate Programme; Mr. Bawo Jones, (DR) Deputy Provost’s Office; Mrs. Pere-ere Etonye, (DR) Registrar’s Office, other Academic and Non- Academic staff of the School, Students and other participants.
After the opening ceremony, plenary session started immediately.
