Language, Arts and Culture in an Evolving Democracy was the theme of the Conference, which opened on Wednesday, 26th of June, 2019, at the College main hall. The Keynote lecture was given by Dr. Sunny Awhefeada, a Professor of African Literature and the Dean of faculty of Arts, Delta State University Abraka. The lecture was all about how Language, Arts and Culture can be used to restructure our democracy. The lecture contained various illustrations from different literary works.
Lead paper was presented by Dr. Emeka Ifesieh, an Associate Professor of Linguistics, Delta State University, Abraka.
The Conference was well attended. The Deputy Provost, Dr. Mrs Phillipa Isioma Oganwu, represented the Provost. Academic state from within and outside the College as well as other staff and students of the College also attended the Conference. There were beautiful presentations by students in the school, in form of poems, dances and drama. The Dean of the school, Mrs. Elizabeth Agbada thanked all the invited guests and hoped for a fruitful deliberation.
At the end of the event, it can be said that the Conference was a success, as those who attended as well as those who deliberated were better equipped and informed on new ideas on how Language, Arts and Culture can grow and better our democracy.
