It was an eventful day at the College on Monday, 24th day of June 2019, when the Provost, Prof. (Mrs) Mary Olire Edema, gathered together Principal Officers of the College and other staff along side student representatives at her office, to mark her third year in office.
It was an occasion of retrospection for the celebrant, who was appointed Provost of the College on the 21st day of June, 2016.
On assumption of duty, it was obvious that she had a vision and a mission, which was 'to have an institution where teachers are trained under international best practice'. She did not waste time in getting into action.
Addressing her audience, she enumerated her achievements, one of which is changing poor work ethics. One of the ways she achieved this, was through the formation of Servicom, a unit that monitors the activities of both Staff and Students, and maintains order in the College. She has ensured that Staff who are due for promotion got it as at when due. Security personnel have been made to undergo training from the Nigerian Civil Defense Corp. Fees of N.C.E. programme was harmonised, thereby growing the population of Students. Her administration is known for zero tolerance for fraudulent activities on the part of Staff and Students. She has put a skills acquisition programme in place to ensure that N.C.E. Students are equipped with practical skills. Some staff have benefited from sponsorship for conferences and seminars. Backlog of certificates for students who graduated from 2005 - 2015 have been prepared. Degree students of the DELSU affiliate programmes now go for NYSC.
The Provost was able to achieve these and others not stated within this short period with the help of the Deans and Directors of the various units.
She has succeeded in creating a strong work force in the College, and Heads of the various Units and Departments are up and doing, to deliver on set goals.
The Provost is a very hard working leader, who leads by example.
We look forward to more achievements in the College.
We pray for God's guidance and protection on the life of the Provost and all Staff and Students of the College.
