College of Education


On Monday, the 29th of June, 2020, Prof. (Mrs.) Mary Olire Edema marked her fourth year anniversary as Provost of the College. She was appointed on the 21st of June, 2016 by the Executive Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.
In the occasion, she humbly gave an account of her stewardship amidst thanksgiving and felicitations.
Those present were Principal Officers, Deans, Directors, Union Leaders and other heads of unit.
In the four years of her administration, she has succeeded in enhancing internet visibility in the College. Admissions, clearance, student's results, transcript are all online. Parents and guardians can now have access to their children/wards result anywhere.
Promotion of staff have been done regularly and promotional payments have been facilitated at Asaba. Staff are sponsored  to conferences and other training within the limits of the available funds. Many staff have obtained doctorate degrees, which have improved the quality of teaching in the College.
The Students' Union Secretariat was refurbished and furnished and there is cordial relationship between the students and Management, as well as maximum discipline.
All fees payment by students, have been centralised thereby creating room for transparency in the system, and records can easily be verified.
Her tenure has brought about a functional e-library in the College.
There is better collaboration with affiliate Universities and other bodies.
In four years, Prof. (Mrs.) Mary Edema has improved visibility in the College at night, as there are solar panels in designated areas which supply light thereby discouraging criminal activities. Management was able to install a 500KVA transformer that was lying idle in the College which helped to improve power voltage in the College premises.
The ICT and MIS unit is being powered by solar panels, which have solved the problems of power outage and conserved College funds spent on fuel.
Her administration has successfully executed three accreditations, and all NCE programmes which were outstanding for the past five years have been accredited.
In four years, she has attracted into the College so many facilities, which have helped to improve workforce, increase student population and better standard.
Prof. (Mrs.) Mary Olire Edema is a transparent leader with a vision, and worthy of emulation. She has very high standards. She is a hardworker with a high level of integrity, sophistication and discipline. She is God fearing and takes her job as Provost very seriously. She is also  accessible and takes students' issues seriously. With her at the helm of affairs in the College, there is stable growth and sanity in the system.
She specially appreciated the Chairman and members of Council, the Deputy Provost, other Principal Officers, Union Leaders and  other staff of the College for their cooperation. She solicited support for her remaining days as Provost.

We pray that God Almighty will continue to strengthen her and keep her safe as she moves College of Education Warri to greater heights.
