Demonstration Secondary School Celebrates End of Year Party

It was fun galore at Demonstration Secondary Schools’ Christmas and end-of-the-year party, which was held at Unomah hall College of Education, Warri. The last day of school for the kids consisted of a talent display  which included showcasing of different talents by the students in poetry, comedy, drama, basic etiquettes in all forms of gathering, dance and singing talents.

The ceremony took place on Friday 1st December, 2023. The Provost of the College, Dr. Dickson Oyovwi was represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr. (Mrs.) Fidelia Ighrakpata. Others present were the College Bursar, Mr Emmanuel Aforigho; the College Librarian, Dr Nelson Edewor; Principal of DSS, Dr. (Mrs) Osiobe Comforts; Vice Principal of DSS both administrative and academic; ADR to the Deputy Provost, Mr Bawo Jones; the College PRO Vusi O. Enakarhie; all teachers of DSS as well as some parents and guardians.

The Deputy Provost, Dr. (Mrs.) Fidelia Ighrakpata, in her opening speech, stressed the significance of Christmas as a season of showing kindness and forgiveness. She said that it is the season to express love to family and friends. She appreciated the teachers of DSS for their effort towards the students and congratulated them for a work well done. 

The Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Osiobe Comfort, in her remarks stated that the Management decided to celebrate the student because of their academic achievements and commitment to their studies. ”Today we are celebrating Christmas for the children and there is a party to make them lively and enjoy themselves  for the end of the session”. The end of year party was a special day for the students and the teachers. There was presentation of gifts to outstanding students in all the arms of the school for the 2022/2023 academic session, this was done to motivate the students in general to keep striving for academic excellence.

Beautiful Christmas Carols were rendered by the students as well as dance performances. There was also dance competitions by the teachers, which added fun to the event. It was indeed a happy celebration.
