Vocational education is a programme for education designed to prepare the teacher for entry into a particular chosen occupation.

Vocational and Technical Education is an education designed to develop skills, abilities, understanding, attitudes, work habits and appreciations encompassing knowledge and information needed to enter and progress in employment on a useful and productive basis.
It is educational system intentionally designed for people who have chosen occupations and wish to improve on them, education that is concerned with the development skills, knowledge and attitudes required for success in any useful occupation.
Vocational education does not only seek to prepare one for an initial entry into employment but also prepares one as an employer of labour at every other stage of one’s working life to meet the changes in the world of work. It also prepares the student to be an employer of labour.
The field of study for vocational education covers a wide range of occupational areas including:
