The Committee of Deans of School (CODOS) on Friday, 1st September, 2023 organised an orientation exercise for the newly employed academic staff, the 99-set academic staff and the converted academic staff of the College, on examination ethics and invigilation. The event, which was well attended by the affected staff was held at the Theatre Arts studio.
The Acting Provost, Dr. (Mrs.) F.C Ighrakpata, in her opening speech read by Prince U.C Osammor, Chairman CODOS, welcomed the participants to the orientation, and urged them to put to good use all they would learn from the exercise.
The exercise featured two seasoned academic giants, Dr. (Barr.) E.E Oniyama and Dr. (Mrs.) P.A Ifie as resource persons. Dr. Oniyama spoke on the technicalities of examination invigilation, while Dr. Ifie dealt on the expected behaviour of invigilators during examination. Both topics covered issues such as taking care of exams materials, punctuality and promptness during exams, handling of exam malpractices and attitude of invigilators towards students amongst others. Participants took advantage of the questions and answers session to raise a lot of questions and concerns about exams invigilation in the College.
