5th Edition of COEWA Skills Fair/Display

On Wednesday 16 August, 2023, the 5th edition of College of Education, Warri Skills Fair and Display was held. 

The students enrolled in the entrepreneurship Programme showcase what they had acquired in the course of the Programme duration.

The College Director of Entrepreneurship, Dr, (Mrs.) Winifred Okpetu ensured that the event was a success. While giving the opening remarks at the event, she stated that skills are important because they increase your sense of creativity and productivity.

The Provost, Dr, Dickson Oyovwi (JP) was represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr, (Mrs.) Fidelia Ighrakpata. While delivering the Provost address, she commended the students and encouraged them to continue learning skills. She mentioned the skills acquisition is as important as getting a degree, and that engaging students in entrepreneurship programme where they develop new skills, will help boast the nation’s economy.

The College Bursar, Mr. Emmanuel Aforigho; Librarian, Dr. Nelson Edewor; Directior of Works, Engr. Clintion Ohworode Oyovwi; COEASU Chairman, Comrade (Dr.) Oghenevize Umukoro and other staff and friends of the College, were present at the Exhibition to encourage and patronise the students. 

It is note worthy to add that Skill Acquisition is the only lucrative remedy to unemployment, and the entrepreneurship programme which is part of the College Curriculum goes a long way to improve the economic situation of the students and society at large.

It was a fun filled event, The students were happy to sell out all the items they put out on display.

Prince Uchenna Osammor, Dean School of Arts and Social Sciences, who was the day’s compere in his closing remarks, stated the he hopes the students continue with the skills they have learnt.

Congratulations to the students for a successful Entrepreneurship programme. Kudos to the College Management and programme instructors for a job well done.
